The Valley Christian
Warriors boys soccer team opened its league schedule with home match vs.
St. Francis Thursday. The Weather was perfect as the match began with
steady ball control by VC.
There were not many
scoring chance from either side, and the play was back and forth leading
up to half time. Going into half time, strong play by the VC defense,
specifically Chris McElhatton, kept the score 0-0.
In the second half,
the score remained knotted at 0 until the 73rd minute when confusion in
front of the VC goal allowed a chip shot to just make it over Ben
Hansen's head and into the goal.
Overall, a dry,
uninspired performance by the Warriors who have lost two consecutive
games for the first time in over a year.
The Warriors are still
searching for their first win, and they will head to St. Ignatius this
Saturday to find it. VC will be without center mid Jeff Coggan who is in
a tournament down South, and starting forward Andrew Smith who suffered
a concussion in the game.
