Valley Christian Boys Varsity Soccer...

the History.

Founded in 1956, Valley Christian High School has grown into a top ranked academic institution, and a solid competitor in CCS athletics.

The Soccer program at VC has participated in three different competitive environments:

Private School Era

From the beginning of athletics at VC until 1993, the Warriors competed with several small private Christian schools such as Pinewood Christian, Berean Christian, etc. The soccer teams did well in these leagues concluding their participation with a dramatic CCS victory in 1992.

These teams included players like: Steve Graf, Adam Wass, Pablo Dillon, and Alex Milojevic.

In 1993, Valley Christian chose to begin competing in the Blossom Valley Athletic League (BVAL)...

Public School Era

After enduring a tough first season playing with the likes of Westmont, Lincoln, San Jose, and Willow Glen; the Warriors began to settle in to their new environment. In their third season in the West Valley Division of BVAL, the Boys Soccer team took home their first League Championship (1995-1996) and was recognized with a #11 CCS Ranking. The team was led by coaches Pablo Dillon, Jeff Wahl, and Bill Jenkins during these years.

Key players during the Public School Era were: Justin Green, Aleks Vranicic, John Basanese, Tim Thompson, Chris Stirm, Jeremy Basanese, Matt Strand, Justin Basanese, Donny Fugate, Frankie Mata, Dan St. Claire, Nathan Smith, and Joe Arioto.

As a result of their Championship, the school moved up to the Santa Teresa Division of BVAL where they stayed until...

W.C.A.L. Era

2002 brought many changes for Valley Christian Soccer. Having moved up to the state of the art campus on Skyway just a few years before, the school joined the West Catholic Athletic League. Along with the move to the WCAL, the school hired Aleks Vranicic and John Basanese to coach the team. In 2003, coach Donny Fugate was added to the staff.

In 2006, Aleks Vranicic stepped down as head coach to spend more time with his family, and Basanese took over the reigns.

The League, considered by most to be one of the best in California, has some of the CCS's top teams. In 2004, 3 of the teams in WCAL were ranked in the top 50 by the Student Sports National Rankings! The other schools in the league are: Bellarmine, Mitty, St. Francis, Junipero Serra, St. Ignatius, Sacred Heart, and Riordan.

In the first five seasons, the Boys program has amassed over 49 wins, a WCAL League Championship, a top 5 ranking in CCS, and three straight CCS Tournament appearances. In the CCS tournament, the Warriors have advanced to the Semi-Finals (2002), and Quarter-Finals (2003).

The WCAL era has already seen some of the top players in school history at VC.  Players like (these players have been All WCAL Selections): Jimmy Coggan, Chris Hansen, Brandon Stirm, Donny Dequine, Ronald Jenkins, Ryan Corry, Garrett Ruiz, Cole Bales, Jeff Coggan, Ben Hansen, Austin Keeling, Joey Stryker, David Nettemeyer, Austin Mansker, Ross Mark, and Ryan Favre.

In the 2007-2008 season, the Warriors will embark on their 6th season in the WCAL...looking to add a CCS banner to the Gym.
